God is a giver of gifts. The beauty of nature is one of His most bountiful presents. I never see and smell a rose without thinking of God’s care and love. So what do flowers have to do with writing? They are encouragement, a reminder that God is always present to help. I ask for His guidance in my writing.
I have heard that the human brain uses more energy than any part of the body, and I believe it. When I have been writing all day and am so fatigued that the cognitive part of my brain feels drained, I stop and seek refreshment in God’s world. The tension slides from my body. It’s not long before I realize that an engine in my head is turning its gears. Ideas form. My story plot is moving, working itself out.
Do I believe that God is ever present to help me? Yes. Do I believe the story I am writing is inspired by His word? Yes. Many times, when I am writing the story as I think it should be, a different scenario fills my mind. It is one that will make my book better and help me show God’s care and love. So I turn the plot another way, even if it means rewriting part of my book.
Thank You God for flowers. Thank You for the help and strength You give me to finish the work You have set before me. Donna Wittlif
